Which sled is best?

mercredi 31 janvier 2018

Hi I know this topic probably comes up pretty often here but I have a few questions. Right now I’m torn between 2 different sleds. One is a 2015 Switchback Assault 800. It’s nicely dressed up with a jerry can, tunnel and handlebar bags, exhaust can, riser etc. This sled only has 100 km (practically brand new) The second sled I’m looking at is at a dealership and it’s a 2016 Switchback Assault 600 with no miles. They have old stock and they’re blowing them out. This one also has electric start. The 2016 at the dealership is also $2000 more (plus all the accessories) than the 2015 private deal.

My first question is how reliable the 2015 Polaris 800 is. I know Polaris hasn’t had a good reputation with the 800s but I’m wondering if it’s been cleared up by 2015 or not. This is probably the thing I’m most concerned with. I don’t want to spend more time in the shop than in the snow.

My second question is if the chassis or handling has changed much between the 2015 and the 2016. Both have Walker Evans shocks but the salesman at the dealership told me that the 2016 is more “flickable” and handles better overall. Not sure how much of that is true because I couldn’t find much online to back it up. To me they look like the same chassis.

I just want your overall opinions on which one would be the better buy. Thanks
