So I blew a belt the other day... Was just turning onto a straight away and gave it the gas and the belt blew as I reached about 40MPH. Everything seemed to work correctly before that. Realized as I was changing the belt that the bolt to open the secondary was too short, even without washers... just would not catch a thread. Apparently there's a washer some tool kits have for exactly this issue; but I didn't have it. So I had to force the belt on over the secondary and pull the sled backwards a few times until it was finally seated. Drove back home and took it easy to break in the belt.
Now I'm noticing that when I give it some throttle, my secondary will not open. At all. So I get about 30MPH at 6000RPMS. If that. I don't really want to take it the dealership if I don't have to, but I'm beyond ideas of what could be wrong. Does it lock closed in reverse, and my pulling backwards trying to work the belt on locked it up? Or is something inside it screwed which led to the belt blowing to start with? Or is it likely when the belt blew the secondary slammed shut and wrecked itself inside?
Wish the damn thing would just open up and work normally! Any ideas anyone?
