Hey guys, hope everyone is doing well. My wife and i are trying snowmobiling this yr, first time on sleds but long time 4 wheel riders. For us we have plenty more trails accepting of the snowmobiles, we got out of 4 wheeling due to lack of riding areas.
Anyway I'm looking at an 02 Skidoo grand touring 2 up for 1600. Has 10k mi, 1k on rebuilt top end, rebuilt clutch, and newer belt. Seems to have been well taken care of only one owner.
Other sled is a 97 Cat Pantera 580, 1700 2300 mi.
I like both, the skidoo is more pleasing to the eye:nerd:. So I'm a mehanic and i can figure out how to do my own work on the sled. I hope the crank was checked out on the skidoo during rebuild that's my main fear the bearings. Also I hope the bearings and wheels before track install was checked. It seems like the gentleman knows his stuff it's just the miles I worry of.
The pantera is at a dealer, i was told they do compression checks and go through them. What do you guys think?
My third option is an 02 mxz600 and Id put a seat jack on. With my wife the sled will have over 400lbs on it so I'm thinking the mxz may not handle that?
I dont want to spend more than 2k as we really dont get the snow here that we used too. Thanks for the help guys
