2 Stroke

I was wondering what brands of 2 stroke oil everyone uses and would recommend. When I first started riding on my own with buddies in high school, of course we'd buy the cheapest stuff you could find at the local parts store or gas station because we had crappy old sleds that we didn't care too much about (and we were broke). When I had my 98 RMK I was using the Polaris full synthetic oil. I got a discount on it because I was pretty good friends with the parts guy at the local shop. I never had any issues with it smoking or having too strong of a smell. After I wrecked it, I rebuilt the engine and put it in my 99 RMK. I switched to Mystic's full synthetic. Similar outcome, not a lot of smoke or strong smell. Now I've been using Quicksilver premium oil that I bought at my local NAPA. This stuff SUCKS in my opinion. I have 3 chainsaws a weed hacker and until this year 4 sleds I was using it in. 2 of the saws are Stihls, ones a couple years old, the other is about 10 years old. The other saw is an old Homelite that's roughly 35-40 years old. With the Stihl full synthetic never an issue one. QS, all of them run like crap. Smoke, bog, sometimes don't start for awhile ? and the exhaust smelled like either burnt popcorn or burnt butterscotch. Same thing with the weed hacker. Brand new Ryobi this spring, ran great no issues with Ryobi's oil. Started using QS, same issues. At the end of the lawn mowing season it seemed like it was still recovering, but was better than when I'd used QS. Used it on a trip last year with 6 different sleds. 5 Polaris' and my Doo. 2 of them are my dad's that we've never had issues with. They we're running OK, but smoked pretty bad all day. 2 of my Polaris' I'd been running it in all season and they'd smoke every ride all day so I was used to it. My RMK was having all sorts of issues, smoking, running terrible, etc.(If you've read any of my other posts you'd know the the full story on that.) And the Ski Doo smoked the whole trip but being the first time I'd ever ridden it I wasn't used to it so I had no idea what kind of oil had previously been used. This past Saturday was our first actual ride of the year both the RMK and the Doo smoked like diesels rolling coal off and on throughout the day. Every now and then I'd turn around and see a haze of smoke behind us. When we unloaded I could see in the snow a black/brown trail where both sleds had been ridden down the road and turned around.
I've done a little research and seen where guys have had marine motors blow up using that stuff. And according to someone at my local NAPA and the little research I've done QS is made by the same company that makes Mercury outboard 2 stroke. It's kinda like a knock off cheaper brand of Mercury oil.
I was told that Redline 2 stroke was a good brand. Haven't tried it yet, thinking of making the switch to that.
I know that a 2 stroke engine is going to smoke a little here and there, especially on start up. I've been around tons of 2 stroke engines in my life and I don't think I've ever seen one that didn't smoke at least some.
I'm all for paying a little more for a good quality product, but I don't think it's reasonable to be paying $60 to $70 a gallon for brand specific oils. I wouldn't have used Polaris' if I wouldn't have gotten a discount.
Anyways, sorry for the long post. Thanks to all of you in advance for your input. Have a good season and be safe out there
