Hi folks!
I have never had a snowmobile. We have a Yurt about a mile + down an un-plowed logging road, then another 1/4 mile up through the woods. Last year throughout th winter I hauled a sled with provisions the old fashion way with snow shoes, now I could continue to do this, but a friend sold me his 2000 Yamaha phaser for $1000. which I could afford, this was last summer.. So, now here is the problem. Seems that the sled will start but the belt will not move, that was 4 days ago . The next day, I took off the belt and could see the primary clutch cycling back and forth, put the belt back on? and no deal, could not get over 3,500 rpm. and belt did not move..The following day ,I laid the sled on its side, and rotated the track, not sure how easy it is suppose to be, but seemed okay, flipped it right side up and tried to put the belt back on but could not open the secondary, so I figured it was frozen up..I got a small torch and heated up the secondary to melt any ice on it ( just a little warm), I was then able to put the belt on it, I then raised the back of the sled up with a 4x4 and started the sled.. Everything was working !?, so I lowered the sled and tore around the yard for 1/2 hour.. ;-) . The next day or today, I started the sled up and , no go, same issue with low rpm's and belt was not moving,, I then put on the new belt and same results.. So now I am into this for hours and hours on you tube and this forum? with no forward progress, and I am about dome with this mode of transport, as I have never had problems with snowshoes.. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
