Light issue on a yamaha srx 700

I have a lighting issue with my 2000 srx 700 the wires coming out of the stator had melted and grounded out I fixed all the wires went through the whole wiring system fixed every bad wire now my lights work when I have my ignition on the no hand warmer position until I hit the brakes I lose all lights tachometer when I put the ignition in the hand warmers on position I have no hand warmers low idle tax drops to zero lights are very dim & no lights also when brake is applied my buddy has the same sled I used his voltage regulator all external parts that has to do with the wiring and that might cause this issue & his parts on my didn't make a difference in my lights any answers for this issue
