Indy 500 flatslide carbs

So just recently cleaned my carbs on my sled for the issue of it not idling. Got them pretty much dialed in not and running pretty good. However im fairly new into messing with the carbs on my own . Heard somewhere that when installing the pilot jet back into the carb you have to seat it snug then back it off ever so slightly .

Is there any truth to this? And if so what is the purpose behind it
