Was getting my sleds ready on Saturday for the first ride , and got all four of my sleds running in the trailer after they had been sitting all summer.
I sold one of them to a buddy, a 2000 RMK 800 with a nice fresh motor. He was already to go for a ride, as we planned to go for a spin on Sunday.
On Saturday, I had to pull start it like 30 times without the plugs in it, to get fuel going into the carbs. Then I put a little fresh fuel in the spark plug holes, and but the old plugs in it, and it fired up, ran for a few, then died. Pull started it about six more times and it started. Let it run for a bit, to get the fogging oil out and have it warm up.
So, fast forward to Sunday. Tried to get the sled started and nothing, not even a glimpse it wanted to start. Tried putting fuel in the plugs, nothing. Switched plugs, nothing, tried starting fluid, nothing. Choke on, choke off..... Plugs were wet when we pulled them.
I used my spark plug tester inline to the plug, saw spark. Both cylinders have compression, so with nothing happening, we started another sled and went off for a ride.
I am confused, because, I figured it should at least act like it's going to start with starting fluid, and gas in the cylinders. Tried three sets of plugs, including a brand new set.
Key switch was on, red button pulled up, so what am I missing? Hate to see the deal go back since I got a decent deposit ;-)
Always a tough starter when cold, but always got it going.......
any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Bob
