Hi everyone,
Symptom sounds like weak battery. I replaced solenoid and it worked once then the same problem came back again. When I turn the key I only get a brief reading on my meter of 1.2 volts on starter side of solenoid. To try and prove if the solenoid is the problem again I took a jumper cable and attached one end to the positive terminal directly on the battery and took the other end and touched it to the bottom right post on the solenoid which goes to the starter. This effectively bypasses the solenoid.Same problem . All I got was one slow crank and then nothing. So now I am thinking it must be my starter because I have bypassed the solenoid and still have the same problem.. So last test is I disconnect the negative and positive cables that run from the starter to the solenoid etc.. So now I have a starter motor with a positive and negative cable attached to it going nowhere. I take my dewalt battery pack and clip it on to the starter cables and it cranks the engine over perfectly like it should so I know starter is good.. Now I am really confused. I know its not the battery as I tried a new battery and had the same problem. Battery reads 12.6 volts.
Everything seems to point to the solenoid but two bad solenoids ?
