HR-169A Carb

dimanche 4 mars 2018

Hi all,
I just started restoring a 1976 Ski-doo Olympique 300 twin. It has an HR-169A carb, which is a pretty simple thing since it utilizes an external fuel pump. Anyway, I thought I should probably rebuild it since it has a bit of corrosion after sitting unused in someone's barn for years - the mice really did a number. After removing the high side welch plug, I found that the ball check valve was not what I expected. From what I've read about HR series carbs, these check valves usually have a seat that is threaded and can be removed with a screwdriver, but this seat has no slots for a screwdriver. This makes me wonder if the valve is a press in type. Has anyone encountered such an animal in an HR series carb? If so, any idea how I should remove the seat and where I can get a replacement ball check valve?

I might be able to clean the carb body with the check valve in place, but I'm worried about damaging it when the plastic ball is subjected to whatever nasty chemicals I subject the carb to. I think that the better option is to replace the valve if it is possible.
Cheers.
