I recently traded my dirt bike for a super clean 1998 Skidoo Formula III 600 with 2038 miles on it. I am looking to stud the track (I ordered 96 extreme max 1.15 inch studs and 3/4 inch tall T channel tunnel protectors to work with the stock .9 inch track) but I am afraid that the tunnel protectors may be too tall as they are ever so gently touching the track. But the spot where they are touching the track only has lugs every other or every 3rd window, and the lugs are tiny little teeth that look like they would wear down easily. I ran the sled on the stand and the track seems to spin freely and not put too much stress on the tunnel protectors. So what I am asking is what do you guys think? Should I run these as is or should I take my jigsaw and cut 1/4 inch off of the entire length of the protectors? In the pictures, the protector on the right is the stock skidoo one (seems basically worthless for studs) and the one on the left is the new, tall ones.
Tunnel protectors too tall?
