Sled is a 1996 Indy 500.
In short my clutch is making a clicking noise as it spins. Best way to describe the sound would be to think about a piece of plastic held against a fan blade. It's loud enough to hear over the engine, but as far as I can tell it's only happening between 3500-6000 rpms. A few things to note:
- 3 weeks ago I changed the spring I. The primary to a longer one. One of the bolts sheared off inside the clutch cover. I got it out and ended up breaking my tap fixing g the threads. Ended up tapping what was left of the hole the next size up and put in a bigger, shorter bolt, leaving the broken tap in the bottom. Far as I could tell the weight difference wasn't too much off from the other bolts, but I'm wondering if the clutch is off balance.
- I just finished a top end rebuild the other day and am in the process of breaking it in. I did not remove or disable anything in the bottom half or crank case. Piston rods didn't have any abnormal play.
- the clicking doesn't seem to be affecting the performance of the sled, but I want to address it before it does, or confirm its nothing to worry about.
