1998 Polaris xlt fuel leakage and won’t start

dimanche 25 novembre 2018

Hi I last week purchased a 98 Polaris xlt 600 with 700 miles for $1200. It seemed like a good deal, test drove it and ran great but idled high ish at 2k. So I changed the isle to have it idle at 1600 but it did not run well. So I changed it back to idle at around 2000, put new plugs in, and added a new air filter which it needed. So I drove it after that and it seemed to run well again it stil idled a bit high but I expected that. So I gave it a break and went to drive it tonight. I went out, tried starting it, and it wouldn’t, but the very first pull it almost did, and after that, there was no luck. So I checked everything I suspected for it to not start, and everything seemed normal except one thing; there was a small leakage of gas and oil I believe. I know it’s gas and I believe there’s some oil in it. The leak is located by a crease near the exhaust manifold, but the manifold has nothing to do with it, just a reference. So that crease by the exhaust manifold is a line of fuel running through out the crease. I think there’s something majorly wrong and that’s why it won’t start, but hopefully it not starting and the leakage are not related. It’s not like gas is pouring out, but just a little wetness. Any ideas on what this may be will be greatly appreciated. I tried inserting pic and hopefully you can tell where exactly the leak is. Please ask for more pictures if needed, but it’s 9pm and I can’t get a great picture, but I’ll try to upload more tomorrow. Thanks for your time and opinions.
