Polaris Ultra Touring not running on all 3 cylinders / backfiring.

Hey guys, I got a Indy Ultra Touring that hasn't been running right for the last year and a half. I am trying to get it running properly before the first snowfall here in MN.. I have a buddy that is pretty mechanically inclined on snowmobiles but I would like some second opinions on what the issue may be. The engine seems to only run off 2 cylinders, backfires out the exhaust, Sled gets really bad MPG (around 6) and is really boggy until it hits around 4k RPMS, then sounds how it should and all 3 are running. We went through all the carbs and had them cleaned, Done a compression test on all 3 cylinders which all were normal so now we are pretty sure it is something electrical. We metered out the Stator and its reading normal so my friend thinks it is the CDI box. He apparently had a similar issue couple years back with on of his sleds and it was backfiring and running on 1 cylinder out of the 2 it has. Tried basically everything and decided to try a new CDI box so he put one in and runs great with no issues.. I just want to know what anyone else thinks because a lot of people seem to say a CDI either works or it doesn't. Hopefully will get a CDI within the week and that fixes the issue.

1990 Bravo 250

dimanche 28 octobre 2018

I recently picked up a 1990 Yamaha bravo 250 for my son. After picking up I saw that the track is destroyed. I’d really like to get him riding it this year but can’t seem to locate a track. No conversion has been done and not really interested in doing one. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Old Exciter Clutch Options

Hey guys-

I've got some clutch woes on my new-to-me snowmobile & was hoping the experts can help me out. I recently got an 88 Exciter 570 that I was hoping to use primarily for ice fishing. This is my first snowmobile, and I have zero experience working on them. I'm a machinist by trade and former auto tech, so I have a better than average mechanical knowledge, but nothing specific to these contraptions. Anyhow after suspecting I had clutch issues I pulled the primary, and my suspicions were confirmed. Basically all of the wear items are completely trashed. There's a ton of slop in both slide bushings, all three of the fingers/pins more or less fell out when I got it apart, and the rollers have almost worn through the bolts that capture them. I'm a little unsure of where to go from here. Obviously I'd like to spend as little as possible... is there something like a rebuild kit for all the wear items in the clutch? An off-the-shelf or aftermarket replacement? Is looking in to a used one worthwhile or will it have all the same issues? I couldn't care less about any kind of performance... I just want something that starts, goes, and that I can pull my ice fishing gear with. Any suggestions?

Track fit for a 2000 Ovation

I'm having a hard time finding a replacement track fora 2000 Ovation. How can I tell if a track from an 80's Enticer, for example, will be able to fit? I think the Ovation is a 109" track and the Enticer is 108". How can I measure, or otherwise determine if a track will fit? Is there a way to easily modify my sled to fit a smaller track by changing idler wheels, or similar?

2015 800 crank case full of oil

sled ran great last season, did not start it since march, now tried to start it and get short pulls and hydro locks, pulled plugs out and look good, pulled exhaust off and full of oil, full of oil in bottom of exhaust manifold so block full. do I have a bad oil pump or is this something that happens when it sits long time without running??

Arctic Cat M8 2007 Weird noise on Track

I have noticed that I have a weird noise on my track. At least I think that it is the track. I have noticed that there is a weird noise. You can not hear the noise while driving the machine. I have only noticed the noise when I hear someone else driving it or listen to it on a video. Does anyone have any idea of what the noise could be? Any ideas would be much appreciated. Here is a link below to a video of the sled and the noise it is making.

79 El Tigre 6000 wiring issue

vendredi 26 octobre 2018

Have a 79 El Tigre 6000. Was running when I redid fuel system. Blew cdi.. Replaced it and didn't run right.. Like on one cylinder. Disconnected the 4 prong connector with no change. I have kill switches bypassed and it ran like that before change cdi. The black wire that goes to ignition swot h and kill if it touches side of engine sled runs perfect but if I fasten wire to anything back to one cylinder. Any ideas on this one?

Need advice on sled

Hey guys how's it going? Just bought a seasonal camp in New York, looking for a way to access it in the winter. A snowmobile seems to be the obvious answer. I'm 220 pounds, I don't need speed, Extreme Performance or anything hardcore. Just something to get me down a trail about three and a half miles long. Any advice? Thanks guys.

2002 Grand Touring electrical issues

Hello, I have a 2002 Grand Touring 600 that the tail light, shock air compressor, dash lights, and accessory plug do not work on. I replaced all of the fuses and both of the relays and still nothing. The headlights still work though. I also checked the resistance across the voltage regulator and noticed it flashed a reading when I first made contact and immediately went back to 1. It did that when I tested all three wires. I'm not sure if that means anything or not. Anyone have any knowledge of this issue?

What is the most I should consider towing with the above vehicle? Truck has the hemi, is a crew cab, and has the max towing package which includes the 3.92 gear, HD trans cooler, and larger trailer tow mirrors. I'm looking at either a 3 place or 4 place all aluminum trailer. Will probably house 121-137 track sleds. Any advice would be helpful. Mike

Helmets for older kids

lundi 22 octobre 2018

Hi there,

I am looking to buy helmets for 2 of my kids. We are new to snowmobiling. Can someone tell me if there is a big difference between buying a Youth helmet vs. an Adult Helmet? 2 of my kids have the exact same head size (21") which is perfect for an Adult XS. There are also tons of great deals online, for really good helmets, in that Adult XS size. Technically it should fit them fine, but I wonder if Youth helmets are a better idea for overall fit, weight, etc. My kids aren't very big -- maybe 42" and 70 lbs each.

BTW, thanks for the advice from another post on 2ups...bought ourselves a 2005 Ski-Doo GTX Limited 600 and an 2004 Arctic Cat Pantera 600. Can't wait to get into it!

I bought a clutch puller for my 1998 Arctic cat powder special 600 efi. Put grease on the end of the puller and on the threads. Gave of everything I had into it. It started to bend the puller. Does anyone know what could be the issue or how to help the clutch off?

bad gas???

My 2002 Arcticat mountain cat 800 EFI wouldn’t start after sitting for a few months. I fixed the rotted gas line in the tank and got fuel to come out the top of the fuel pump and it got it to run but then 2 minuets later it shut off and won’t start back up. BAD GAS?? Or water in gas?

Why doesn't my 2007 F6 start until I disassemble it?

samedi 20 octobre 2018

Here's the story: I bought a 2007 AC F6 SnoPro a few years back at the end of the season; it started fine, as the previous owner was using it semi-regularly. The sled only had like 1,300km or something.

I rode it for about 700km that weekend, then I stored it for the winter in my buddy's trailer. Come the fall, I take it out in hopes of giving it a once-over before it's time to ride. No start, after a good 60 pulls between me and my buddy. Ether/quickstart would get it going, but that's it, so we ascertained it was a fuel delivery/computer issue. Took off the dash, exhaust, and took off the fuel rail which sprayed some gas. Injectors looked fine, so we re-installed the injectors, and it starts after 2 pulls. Note: this season we pulled the power valves to inspect/clean them, as we weren't sure what the previous owner's maintenance was like, but they were in perfect condition.

Next year, same deal. Not until I removed the fuel rail, and re-installed it, will it then start after 2 pulls. No power valve work, as I only rode the sled maybe 600km the previous year.

This year, same crap; 75 pulls and it won't start on it's own. Remove the dash, another 15 pulls: no start. Remove the exhaust, another 15 pulls: no start. Disconnect the rail, and re-install it (spraying some gas). 2 pulls, runs perfect. Again no power valve cleaning, as I rode the sled maybe 50km last year.

So, I am thinking there's no way it's supposed to be like this "from the factory", so I am trying to figure out what's up, and make it so my fall checkup doesn't involve this seemingly pointless exercise. My current working theory is that, since the fuel rail isn't recirculating like it would be in a car, whatever fuel goes down that fuel line HAS to come out the injectors. Either:
A) The fuel in the line/rail will not burn after sitting for 7 months; when I disconnect the rail, I am basically draining the fuel line/rail of "old gas".
B) There is air getting into the fuel rail somehow, and the injectors are not opening until there is fuel in them, or they're burping air, but never enough for fuel to get there.

I do not use fuel stabilizer anymore; I figure it's not very long between when I stop using it, and when I give it a tune up, so it's not worth it. I did, however, put stabilizer the first year, and it didn't help. I fill the fuel tank before I store it at the end of the season, and I grease all the grease points, but that's it. I also use Arctic Cat APV.

Is there something I should be doing, that I am not doing? Is there a part that is worn-out somewhere that is causing this issue? It's annoying, and seems like there's no way this is the experience everyone has with this sled.

Why doesn't my 2007 F6 start until I disassemble it?

440 Won't Run Under Half Throttle

hey guys, new to the forum.

Recently picked up a sled with a 440 in it. I think its from a 1977 Nuvik 440 fan cooled. So i can get it to fire a couple times with the primer, but it will not stay running. If i keep doing this and hold the throttle wide open it'll eventually start to run and if i feather it the engine will slowly reach its way to full speed. Then when i slowly bring the throttle down it'll come down to about half throttle than dies. took apart and Cleaned the carb a good 5 times. super clean in there. Ive set the air screw to 1.5 turns out as suggested on the engine plate. no obstruction on the exhaust side. all new fuel lines and new fuel pump which is filling the carb. I have good spark. Cleaned and adjusted the points and popped in new plugs. What do you guys suggest i should be checking?

Also the carb ive got on it is a mikuni (only markings on it is T67)

Thanks in advance for any input. Cheers!

New to the rev platform always had ZX chassis Doo’s. I have an 03.5 Blair Morgan. Was cleaning up the sled last night and noticed that only one headlight was on. Are the revs like bikes? Debating replacing my ‘93 Phazer with 5,600 miles on it with a ‘87 XLV in pristine condition with 1135 original miles. My Phazer is in excellent condition but the XLV is like new. Figure I could get $900 for the Phazer and have to pay $1300 for the XlV. Am I losing my mind going back to a 6 year older “new” machine. Track lenght

For a multi use sled with some off trail use would a 137" vs. 146" track have enough benefit justify the longer length? How much track is really contacting the surface with either one? My off trail use is mainly ice fishing remote lakes but I want a capable sled that I am not sorry I purchased. I don't need or want a high power sled.

New(er) sleds, what do you recommend?

jeudi 18 octobre 2018

So I'm thinking about parting ways with my Firecat, and looking to go in a new direction. I'm looking at a couple of sleds, between a used Polaris Switchback Assault 600, a New Ski-Doo Summit Sport 600, and a used Arctic Cat XF 6000. Any input on these choices? I really would want a "Longer" track, as the groomer doesn't always find its way out near me, and I like going off trail. Love my firecat, but its starting to be some tired iron.

I just bought this sled about a week ago. My left pyston was completely broke and cylinder scared. Replaced both the right cylinder is perfect with good compression. Now I have a issue of no fuel. It has a vacuum hose connecting to hoses coming off of the carbs and two fuel lines that are clipped could this be my issue?

Best belt for torque on 1990 Indy 500

Hello everyone,

So many years ago I had a 1991 indy 500 that I ran forever until the idler wheel assembly blew apart and destroyed the carriage and I opted to part the sled and upgrade (or downgrade?) to a 1990 indy 500 with electric start and the 2-up with long track. Both sleds I would run a belt such as or equivalent to a max1105 which did my alright but being a big guy and a Fairly small engine there was many times when the low end power was just horrific and that’s even after clean and maintained clutches and carb work. Undoubtedly the carbs will need a cleaning anyways before the season starts but I was wondering what you guys have for experience on belts and which belts have given you the best ride with these older 500’s I’m more a trail rider and fuel efficient rider I rarely go screaming down the trail but I enjoy a nice smooth cruise at 30-45mph on the main trails maybe a little faster depending on conditions. I don’t have problems taking off on flat packed trails but anything out of the ordinary or trying to get going on an incline and it doesn’t want to go and naturally gets worse as the belt wears. What would you guys recommend for this sled?

Thanks,
Nick

07 m1000 quits when it warms up

hey guys, I made a mistake and bought a 07 m1000 last march and it hasn't worked right since I got it. At first it wouldn't go over 100km and hour and didnt get there fast. I drained the old gas the previous owner said that gas was from the year before. I changed the plugs which were very wet, cleaned the exhaust valves. this did make some improvement it was a little quicker but still topped out at 120 km. Now it seems to run very rich, and after it warms up it backfires and quits. it wont start back up till it cools down for a few minutes. Ive heard people say it is probably something with the computer. I'm not about to spend $2900 on a new computer for it. I've check the fuel pressure it stays right at 42psi. I want to get rid of it and get something else but I just cant sell it without it working right like the guy did to me. As it sits now it is just a big orange paper weight. Anyone have any ideas that might help me? I'm not close to any dealers either to take it too.

HELP needed before i pull all my hair out!

Howdy all,

My son and I just picked up a couple of old Polaris machines as "Project sleds" for ice fishing. I tried to "google" the ID #'s but everything I find is asking for a 17 digit VIN and these two only have 7-digit numbers.
I am pretty sure the first is a 1991 Polaris Indy Sport 440 - ID=1814524 and the model is a 0910443
The second one is still having me guessing a bit. For starters a previous owner replaced the hood with one from an XLT Indy which I have come to find out is totally wring since the "T" means its a triple and this thing clearly has a 500 twin liquid cooled engine. The emissions label is about as tired as the machine is so the info is "foggy", so far i can decipher the Serial # but the model and DoM is scratched up pretty good:
ID = 1745175 the partial model i can read is *90086* and the DoM appears to be 081989. but from what I have already read Polaris didn't make a 500 Indy in '89 ?? Did they or is this really a '90?

As you can probably tell i am quite frustrated and the local OEM was not very forthcoming with info or helping me research it, just wanted to sell me parts and move on to the next person, what ever happened to Customer Service these days? seems like it has go to the wayside just as common sense has....

Thank you in advance if anyone can help us out.

Howdy from Upstate NY

Good Day Y'all

New member to Snowmobile Forum. My son (15 1/2) and I just picked up a couple new sleds (slightly used and very much project sleds) but were up for the challenge. One i believe is a 1991 Polaris Indy Sport 440 FC and one is a 19?? Polaris Indy 500 Special LC both are twins.
Main reason for purchase is we we looking for some cheap transportation when Ice Fishing - walking across some of the big Upstate NY lakes absolutely blows in the winter (no pun intended) so we figured why not a couple of sleds and we can tow all our gear/shanty ta boot!
Any-who, I figured the forum would be a great resource full of knowledgeable folks to help us restore these two classics back to their original charm......
Looking forward to some good conversations and hopefully some helpful advice.

P.S. - I'll post some pics of them once my "smarter than I " son gets home from school tonight.

1977 Arctic Cat Panther 4000 (not moving)

dimanche 14 octobre 2018

Hey, I'm new to the whole snowmobile game, but I have a few questions.

I was riding today and my Panther 77' struggles to get moving and engage the drive belt; it will spin but the belt will stay stationary. Any ideas what this could be?

I was wondering if this is a belt issue (belt is too loose?)or a clutch issue.

Thanks!

(other than this issue it seems to run well, this just started happening today)

Need a smaller battery . The stock battery is too big to remove without removing parts including the muffler.
Is there a smaller battery that I can slip in and out without removing the muffler?
Thanks

stator ????

Just last season i bought a new to me 2013 Polaris IQ 600 Touring and managed to get a couple hundred miles of trail riding in(only 500 miles on it yet) before it started acting up.Start the engine, let it warm up and just a couple minutes in,the digital dash goes blank......if i let it run a bit longer on idle,it will cut out. If i rev it up a little, the dash display resets as long as i keep it over 2500 rpm or so(just before driveline engagement),but if i activate the brake light or turn on any accessory like the hand or thumb warmer, the dash goes blank again. Anytime it cuts out,it will start right up again if i turn the key to off first.
What is the proper procedure for checking the stator?regulator?etc.. before i start throwing expensive parts at it. I stuck a test light in2 of of the 3 he yellow wires going to the the regulator yesterday and the light is very dim and does not get any brighter as i rev it up.......any help would be appreciated.
thanks in advance

Sacrificed one of the fleet so its heart could be transplanted into one of my other sleds.

Have lots of misc non engine parts(and some engine related extras) available, not to mention the seat and other chassis parts, clutches, carbs, cables, bars, etc.

What’s up y’all after stepping away from snowmobiling for nearly 10 years I finally dipped my feet back in. Just wondering how few and far between these sleds are? I purchased one a couple weeks ago now and I’ve been trying to find out as much about them as possible scaling forums etc. but information seems to be pretty limited these days on them.

Also, I’m having a hard time finding a low black windscreen for it. Do the sno-stuff ones for the 03 440, and the 04 MXZ 800 X fit? I would assume it does but I’m new to the Revs always owned ZX chassis or Cats. Sled is mechanically great it has been rebuilt from the crank up with 700 miles on the rebuild.

Needs a little tlc cosmetically, I ordered a bunch of stuff for it including skis and hopefully a new track today, but I’m having a hard time deciding to stud or not to stud the new track. If I stud I want to buy a pre drilled track. Anyways glad to finally be back to the snow!

87 Indy Sport 340 no start

jeudi 11 octobre 2018

So I freshened up the top end. New rings, gaskets and I drove in new crank seals (without splitting the case). Cleaned/rebuilt the carbs and fuel pump, as well as drive shaft bearings and other odds and ends. Anyway, it will not start. It's the EC34-2PM-03 engine which is the non-adjustable timing engine. Its got good spark, but I did notice every time you pull the engine over there is pockets of air running up the fuel line, and no fuel up tp the carbs. I think it has to be an air leak? Should I have split the case and put the seals in the proper way? I'm kinda stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi from the new guy

Hey all, Thanks for letting me in the club! I've been lurking around before creating a profile, and it seems there is a wealth of knowledge here. Years back me and some buddies would pick up some old sleds every fall, behind garages, in barns etc. and would bring them home make em run and have a blast. I have not had a sled in a few years, but the wife and I stopped at the museum in Naubenway and I was bit by the bug again! Anyway, I now have a gen 1 and gen 2 JD luiquifire in the shop. Those are my long term restos. I also picked up a 1987 Indy Sport for buzzing around and grooming x-country ski trails.

Hi from the new guy

789 SRX440 carb settings.

I have a 78 srx440 that I am getting ready to get running again. I live in chicago. Can anyone give me the base carb settings. The last time it ran was about 5 years ago and it always seemed like an angry cat. Throttle was either idle or wide open haulin ass. Want to get my son on the snow this year with it. Thanks

Arctic Cat Alpha-1

Wow.

I just visited the local Cat dealership to have a look at Cat's new offering in the Mountain segment. Wow. I hope the dealer gets a demo in, I would really like to try out this sled!

The single large center rail allows the track to stay flat when the sled is tilted. I tilted the sled 15 degrees and the track was still flat on the floor. I am curious how this will equate to traction when you are trying to sidehill. The track lugs are huge... this will not be a trail-friendly or low snow track at all. I bet it goes great in the deep powder, though.

I really like the way they engineered ice scratchers into the rear suspension. Instead of attaching to the rails, they attach to the upper part of the suspension and are completely out of the way when put into the supplied hangar. Good job, Cat!

I also liked the way the belt is accessable. Removal of the PTO side panel gives total access to both clutches. I see a Team clutch on there as a secondary, too. The panel comes off with two 1/4 turn holders and re-attaches easily. Nice.

The MAG side panel comes off the same way to allow access to the oil container, which is metal. Access to the spark plugs seems foreboding, but I didn't take time to see how that occurs. It's tight in all of 'em these days.

I was impressed that there were three storage areas on the sled, one in the dash, one in the seat, and one below the seat. There's not a ton of room, but at least there's something, which is way more than my Polaris.

This sled had 3 way (soft, medium, hard) suspension settings that shift on the fly with a button. That could be really handy on those days where the trail is horrible getting to the fun stuff.

With a 165 hp 800 engine and a 165" track, this should be a VERY capable sled for the mountain guys. Kudos to Cat for upping their Mountain Game to the next level!

1998 Polaris Headlight Issue

Can anyone help me?
My 1998 Polaris Indy 500 has an issue with headlights.
It intermittingly goes from full bright to a dull yellow. This happens with engine idling at the same rpm.
Also happens with high beam.
When high beam indicator is on and the lights dim, the indicator light goes out.

Any ideas?

2001 zl 800 esr

Just purchased this machine, with a couple issues which I hope are not serious. The kill switch is either disabled or broken, and the thumb warmer is not working. All other electrical components appear to be operable. Are these individual malfunctions or a sign of an overall problem such as the cdi box

2006-2009 Ski-Doo GTX Limited (3up) models

dimanche 7 octobre 2018

Hi there,
I recently posted a Q about a few touring machines. I happen to be looking for two...and one of them needs to work with 3 passengers. Most likely myself and my 10/12 year olds. They are pretty small for their ages so I am not concerned about weight issues.
Anyway -- I have learned the GTX Ltd's used to offer a 3rd middle seat. There are a few available for sale. Think there are 600/800/1200 models but may be mistaken.
Does anyone have feedback on these machines? Also curious to know if there are any other options for 3 to a sled?
Big thanks,
Snackage

Polaris Edge vs Vertical Escape 800 motor?

So, what's the difference in the lower case between a Polaris 800 from the year 2000 vs year 2004?

I am looking at 2004 Vertical Escape with the liberty 800 motor, but also very familiar with the crank bearings in my old 2000.

My other Vertical Escape has the 700 Liberty motor, and it is doing fine. But I am finding more 800's out there than 700 with a long track and 2" lugs.

Does the Liberty motor have the same "issues" as the older 800?
Any advice is appreciated
Thanks

Grand Touring 2003 or Arctic Cat Pantera 2001

mercredi 3 octobre 2018

Hi there,
I'm sort of new to snowmobiling (had a sled as a teenager 30+ yrs ago). Have a new cottage and I'm looking for a 2up sled for general trail riding, touring, etc. Don't need anything too fast, aggressive, etc.
There is a Ski-Doo Grand Touring 380F with 7000km for sale in my town for $3,500 CDN...and a 2001 Arctic Cat Pantera 600 with 10,000km for sale for $4,000. I would love any opinions or recommendations on which would be a better choice. They are both in VG condition.
Cheers!

2015 RS Vector TORS issues

I am new to the forum concept. I am not sure if I asked my question to the right forum or not. I recently asked if anyone had a previous Yamaha RS Vector (2015 sled) T.O.R.S issue whereby a warning light 84 appeared after the sled had idled for awhile. When engaging the throttle. The sled sputters and shuts down. I am looking a response on how to fix this issue and for anyone to explain where to look under the shroud of the sled.

buying 1st sled - which one of those to pick

mardi 2 octobre 2018

Never rode one. mostly flat trails around here. no mountains or hills really. used one. my budget is 3-4k. here are machines which I found close to me and do seem to look nice:

1. 2008 Yamaha Apex LTX (3000usd)
2. 2004 Arctic Cat F6 EFI sno pro (2800usd)
3. 2010 m8 153 sno pro (4500usd)
4. 2009 Ski Doo Renegade 1200 (4k)
5. 2009 Yamaha nytro 121 (3500)

the winters here in NW WI get pretty cold, anything from -20 to 20 for riding. I've heard the yamaha hand warmers suck.
Otherwise, I am looking for comfort and decent power, but mostly chill riding.
which one of the above machines would you pick, or maybe look for something completely different?

2003 sks. Mystery ski stance

Hello I bought a 2003 SKS. Noticing that it needed a correct trailing arm. I replace that and I'm trying to find out the correct ski stance. I bought a 2003 Polaris deep snow service manual. And it has it stated as the RMK being a justable from 39 1/2 to 41 Max. But in all the brochures I see the Switchback from 2003 to 2005 has a ski stance of 41 to 42 and a half. Noticing that the trailing arms are the same for the RMK in the SKS. The only difference is the radius rods. These are specific just to the 2003 to 2005 Switchback / SKS. Does anyone really know what the ski stance is supposed to be?

Enticer jetting thoughts

Enticer 300 standard main jet is 210, and pilot is 90. Will be driven at about 1,000 ft elevation. My concern is colder weather. The service manual suggests a larger pilot jet for cold conditions.

Other than plug fouling, is there going to be any harm going to a 220 main, or would it be more ideal to go to a 95 pilot as the manual suggests?

Same questions apply to a 340, but different standard jet sizes.

Indy Super Sport Lighting

lundi 1 octobre 2018

Working on what i beleive is a 1994 indy super sport 440. So i changed out my older style halogen bulbs in the instrument clusters and tail lights with the newer led type. I also mounted a small led light bar on top on the old square unit. To power the light bar i took the high beam lead out of the factory headlight connection and joined it to my + lead.

So when my handle bar headlight switch is on low the factory low beam comes on. When its on high my led light bar comes on and the factory light goes out. Iam thinking great. Time to play.

Go outside hit the ditches and i notice now that my speedometer gets dimmer and dimmer as i go faster and the rpms increase. Slow down, lower the rpms it goes bright again. Anyone have a suggestion?

Super Sport secondary clutch spring color

I had a 1994 indy super sport for a few years now. My secondary came apart at the end of last sledding season. So I went into town today and got a used one. It has a lighter blue colored spring inside it. Old clutch had a red one in it. My primary clutch has a red one in it. Should i change it back to my old red one and run matching springs in the clutches or a red and blue?
