Hey guys-
I've got some clutch woes on my new-to-me snowmobile & was hoping the experts can help me out. I recently got an 88 Exciter 570 that I was hoping to use primarily for ice fishing. This is my first snowmobile, and I have zero experience working on them. I'm a machinist by trade and former auto tech, so I have a better than average mechanical knowledge, but nothing specific to these contraptions. Anyhow after suspecting I had clutch issues I pulled the primary, and my suspicions were confirmed. Basically all of the wear items are completely trashed. There's a ton of slop in both slide bushings, all three of the fingers/pins more or less fell out when I got it apart, and the rollers have almost worn through the bolts that capture them. I'm a little unsure of where to go from here. Obviously I'd like to spend as little as possible... is there something like a rebuild kit for all the wear items in the clutch? An off-the-shelf or aftermarket replacement? Is looking in to a used one worthwhile or will it have all the same issues? I couldn't care less about any kind of performance... I just want something that starts, goes, and that I can pull my ice fishing gear with. Any suggestions?
