Best belt for torque on 1990 Indy 500

mercredi 17 octobre 2018

Hello everyone,

So many years ago I had a 1991 indy 500 that I ran forever until the idler wheel assembly blew apart and destroyed the carriage and I opted to part the sled and upgrade (or downgrade?) to a 1990 indy 500 with electric start and the 2-up with long track. Both sleds I would run a belt such as or equivalent to a max1105 which did my alright but being a big guy and a Fairly small engine there was many times when the low end power was just horrific and that’s even after clean and maintained clutches and carb work. Undoubtedly the carbs will need a cleaning anyways before the season starts but I was wondering what you guys have for experience on belts and which belts have given you the best ride with these older 500’s I’m more a trail rider and fuel efficient rider I rarely go screaming down the trail but I enjoy a nice smooth cruise at 30-45mph on the main trails maybe a little faster depending on conditions. I don’t have problems taking off on flat packed trails but anything out of the ordinary or trying to get going on an incline and it doesn’t want to go and naturally gets worse as the belt wears. What would you guys recommend for this sled?

Thanks,
Nick
