My Heart Attack!

lundi 3 septembre 2018

Absolutely no warning, just some mild chest pain. Now I know why they are called the "Silent Killers". No arm tingling nor numbness like the tv commercials, just a bit of fatigue that I simply associated with my age.

After an exploratory angiowhatever, come to find out the old arteries around the ticker had seen their prime and off to the heart center I was delivered in a somewhat hurried fashion. I now fully understand what is referred to as a triple bypass as I have lived it and somewhat happy to be on this side of the dirt to relay my story.

I had no idea as to the extent of the procedure, but my chest is in almost constant pain from where they ripped that stuff all apart to get to your heart. The missing vein from my leg is still a surprise. Not sure why my leg didnt need it anymore as my other leg has almost the matching one still intact. I guess the heart is happier with this vein, but I have leg numbness around my ankle and scars from there to my private area where that vein was.

Every day is supposed to be better, and I guess it is. But, the struggle to heal has far exceeded any previous surgery or injury I have ever endured. The physical pain is almost as debilitating as the mental anguish, not to mention the lack of income. But, on the bright side, if all goes well, I will be back in the saddle for snow season.

Missed out on the best part of summer. Camping, dirt biking, off roading, shooting, atv'ing, etc.

Small price to pay I guess for things to come, but I am really fighting the entire healing process. On an upswing, I will have a bit more time to spend here seeing I cant do much else.
