Hello everyone I am hoping someone can help with this sled. Unfortunately this may be a bit of a long story but any of it may be useful.
The last time this sled ran was about 2 years ago the son and I were playing around on the lake and it died from and idle after he stopped. Towed it back to the house and let it sit. The next day I went out and it started ran for about 30 seconds and died. Took it home and parked it for the summer.
I went back out in the fall and the Rope would not move. I assumed the motor was seized. I put some oil down the cylinders and later some Pb blaster. This summer I pulled it into the garage and my son messed with it and got the pull rope to move but it still pulled hard and didn't turn over very fast. I finally got around to it and pulled off the heads and checked out the cylinders. There was nothing in there that led me to believe the motor was locked up at any point. I put the recoil back on and it turned over (without heads) perfectly with no issue. Wiped the cylinders with oil and covered it up. roughly a month later I replaced the head gaskets and torqued everything to specs and in sequence. It was now back to normal. Possible recoil issue? Replaced the plugs drained and cleaned the fuel tank and inspected lines. The in tank pick up line at some point was replaced with a rubber fuel line that had rotted out and was basically little pieces of rubber by this point. Possibly the reason it died on the lake. With all of this fixed. I replaced the battery with new one from polaris and tested out at 12.8V. Still would not start. Fuel pump was not cycling. Tested bad and replaced.
Still no start it will fire on first 4 or 5 pulls and thats about it. Randomly after that. At times I will put fuel down cylinders and sometimes it will fire and sometimes it will not.
Wont even run for 2 seconds. It seems to be acting as thou the EFI doesn't have enough power even thou the battery checks out and connections seem to be good. The spark plugs have nice blue spark.
I did pull the fuel rail out w/injectors held them in place and the seemed to be spraying fine when pulled. Fuel is returning to tank when rail is pressurized toward the end of the fuel pumps cycle.
I pulled the drain plugs on the crank case for each cylinder and at first some nasty reddish brown fluid came out of all 3. Didn't smell like fuel. Maybe the Pb blaster and oil.
I seem to have gotten it all out now. I have pulled the Crankcase drain plugs since after about 30-50 pulls and the middle and left cylinders have fuel that drains out doesn't seem like much maybe a half a bottle cap full from each and the right cylinder is close to dry.
Checked out all ports I could while heads were off and all were clear.
Also the exhaust had a bunch of leaves and crap in it that was cleaned out.
I will be doing a compression test on Tuesday this week. Sled has no upgrades.
Thank you for taking the time to read this! :)
