I bought an 88 Phazer with electric start, but the guy didn't use the electric start and had no battery installed.
I pulled the starter and I ordered the parts to fix it.
In the service manual, it said not to run the engine without a battery because the voltage regulator will be damaged.
Is there a way to static test the voltage regulator to see if it is still good? I will have the parts perhaps next week to get the starter in and a battery, but I wondered if I can test it now so that I can order a regulator if it is needed.
I thought of connecting it to battery with an amp meter installed to see if it is charging, but I have a lot apart right now (carbs, engine mounts, muffler, etc.), waiting for parts, and I want to wait for the parts before running it, if possible.
Any ideas?
