Normal years, you don't see any of those bushes. Snow is typically about 4-5' deeper.
3rd shot is what the skiers look at on the drop off. This year the snow was fairly hard and crusty, which meant for a very fast drop. 1700' in less than 2 miles.
4th picture is actually from a previous year. This is where the snowmobiler drops off the skier (via tow-rope) for the final leg of the race). Generally the snowmobiles are going around 80+ MPH with the skier in tow. This year, we could see rocks and bare ground up there.
