84 indy track skid question

samedi 28 avril 2018

Just got the boy an '84 indy 400 L/C and the skid is pretty shot.

My question is, does the replacement need to be from the same year 400 or would newer (85-90's) 400 or 500 skids work?

1971 Sno Pac snowmobile?

mercredi 25 avril 2018

Hi, I found this old Sno pac Pacer snowmobile in an old barn. It has the Sachs 440 engine in it. It does turn over, but obviously hasn't run in a very long time. I have been unable to find out much information online, and was hoping someone on this forum may shed some light on these machines. I only paid $100 for it so if it turns out to be a dud, at least I'm not into it too much. For some reason I have been unable to attach picture. If somebody wants to see any pictures please contact me. Thank you

Enticer 400 vs 410

mercredi 18 avril 2018

I'm looking for another enticer long track. I've heard mixed reviews on the enticer II 410.

- Is it truth or rumor that the 410 engine wasn't very good?
- Is there much difference between the 400 and the 410?

Those last couple years of the original enticer 400s are pretty nice looking sleds, similar to Bravos. Great for what I use them for.

Hi from WNY

Hi All,
New member but long-time forum stalker. After several years out of the sport, I dragged a neglected (but running) '93 Arctic Cat out of the mud in Early February and began it's restoration. As expected, the deeper I dig into the machine, the more I find wrong ! Good fun though. Enjoying the process of bringing an old cat back to life.
Thanks to all - especially the long-time members who take the time to share their expertise.

Headlights burned out

dimanche 15 avril 2018

I have a 2000 Polaris TrailTouring550. My headlights keep burning out so I replaced the voltage regulator. I'm getting 13 VAC at idle at the headlight connector but it goes down to less than 9 VAC when I rev the engine. What's wrong?.

new vs old?

vendredi 13 avril 2018

Went down to the local Polaris dealer, and was looking at sleds.

I got to thinking after talking with the folks there, that a new RMK SKS with a 155" track would be sweet.
But, after thinking about it some more, besides the cost of a new sled, it seem that access to the motor was limited, but maybe I was missing something. I am use to my older sleds, 2008 IQ and even older 2003 Vertical Edge, and older. Seems like the old sleds you just lift up the front and you can get to everything. Is that true with the newer RMK?

I also was hearing about the metal chain in the chain case has gone away on some models, and it's a non adjustable belt.... Seems interesting, wonder if that is a replacement item?

So I thought I would post here to get more info. Are the new sleds more difficult to work on? Or am I missing something.....
Any advice is greatly appreciated......

PROS VS CONS getting a new sled and maintaining them.... ;-0

Track extension help with pic

jeudi 12 avril 2018

I am looking into purchasing a 2000 SRX700. I found one that the track seems to have been extended (which I want)
Prob is that the owner knows nothing about it.
attached is a pic of the rear end. Sorry not a great pic.

I would just go and look myself but it is over 4hrs each way, so I was hoping to try here first

He suggested its a 136 but I cannot tell. Is it possible to tell by looking at the rail extenders and the plastic coolant protector?

Thanks all for your help.

2016 Arctic Car 8000 ZR RR

samedi 7 avril 2018

I recently took this extremely clean snowmobile in on trade, I have no need to keep it and would like to try and sell it.

It is a 2016 ZR 8000RR And has right around 2000, the original owner has meticulously detailed it after each ride and it shows! It was serviced by a dealer that the sled was purchased from. The snowmobile does have a few tasteful modifications...

-Fox evol shocks
-1.75 track swapped
-C&A skies
-Sundale Mountain can
-LED headlights
-Full wrap done by forty five designs
-Rear bumper and sindles powder coated
-6" bar riser
-Race Flap
-Goggle Bag

Hello from Canada

mercredi 4 avril 2018

Hello from Saskatchewan!

I went through the process of joining up after reading some very good threads on old Yamaha sleds. A tip of the hat goes to the folks who have offered advice to the hosers like me doing sled maintenance and troubleshooting.

I now have a Bravo ST and LT, an 80 ETD, and am in the process of picking up an 85 (?) ET T/R. With summer approaching, I will be looking to go through them and do some PMs and whatever upgrades are required, so that my family can keep ripping as the boys get bigger. This site appears to be a tremendous resource of knowledge on how the old sleds work.

Hello From North of The Adirondacks

mardi 3 avril 2018

I've spent my 20s learning to ride and troubleshoot the three sleds in my dad's barn. A 69 Polaris Mustang, 74 John Deere 300, and an 82 Yamaha Bravo. I feel like I won the lottery with these three sleds, tucked away, barn fresh. I'm looking forward to learning a lot more from this forum! Check out my youtube for some decent shots of these sleds in action. Part of me can't believe they are all still running in 2018. So much respect. I have never ridden any sled newer than the 82 Bravo.

Hello From North of The Adirondacks

Snowmobile no start fuel!

Hey guys, I have a 1995 arctic car zr 580 and I am having trouble getting it going, it will only start if I pour gas down the cylinders or squirt it in the over flow hoses, when I do this the sled revs up like crazy for a long period of time I have to keep switching on and off the kill switch keeping it going and killing it to have it at a decent speed, if not it will blow. I have cleaned the carbs and made sure the throttle
Is not stuck, I noticed that one of the chokes was way out of whack so
I adjusted it to the same spec as the other carb, still the same issue, lots of gas on the exhaust pipe but I’m not sure if it’s becauae I primed it my self or another issue, any help would
Be great thank you!

OK I am open for ideas!
Here it is in all it's stock 35 year old glory.
She is Very clean (Thanx Rob)

I have 2 of these. (of course I do)

So here is my latest thoughts?
The largest issue is the lack of fuel!
Underneath is a ET fuel tank and shroud. There is also a tank from like an old Panther(on the back of the seat)

Next is the suspension
I have an Ovation skid, 97 ZR 121' skid, a 95 Pantera 136" skid!

But what about a FireCat 13.5"?

And next is the front end? Again I have ZR A arms and spindles?
Or maybe a set of VMax POGO's?

Realised that I have posted any pics here this year yet! Here are a few from the first event of the year, weather was not great so hard to get good pics but here are some of them :

This is actually a father/son photo, Dad in the background on nr 2 and son racing ahead on nr 122 - he won the youth cup and then last year moved up to the adult standard group, which he also won! Less success this year but still managing to stay ahead of the old man!
